Editor/Senior Editor, Quintessence 

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Editor/Senior Editor (depending on the successful candidate’s experience) to project manage outstanding illustrated non-fiction books.

 

Quarto creates inspiring books for adults and children published across the globe. As an Editor/Senior Editor, you will help shape the future of our publishing programme and collaborate with leading publishers from around the world.

Salary from £32,000, depending on how your skills and experience align to the role.

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our London office and two working from home.

 

 

About the role 

As an Editor/Senior Editor, you will manage illustrated non-fiction books across a range of subjects for the adult market, including art, popular science, natural history, lifestyle, gift, and popular reference.

 

What you will be involved in:

  • Project managing approximately 10 titles per year, from concept through to print-ready files
  • Managing and supporting authors
  • Commissioning freelancers and managing their work
  • Working closely with the design team to review and improve layouts, offering editorial input on image selection
  • Maintaining good relationships with our co-edition publishing partners, ensuring great customer service
  • Delivering high-quality books on schedule and within budget

 

About you 

You’ll have a track record of working collaboratively across multiple projects simultaneously to deliver a high standard of illustrated non-fiction content.

 

You will be able to show you can:

  • Organise your own work effectively across multiple projects
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse range of contributors
  • Maintain publishing processes and editorial standards
  • Problem solve and communicate proactively
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget
