About the role

Reporting to the UK Online Sales Director, you’ll join the Online and Digital Sales team within Quarto’s wider UK Trade Sales Team. This varied role covers online retail accounts, digital sales activity and customer relationships. At Sales Assistant level, you’ll coordinate activity for designated accounts and contribute to sales targets with support from your line manager. At Sales Executive level, you’ll also take direct responsibility for agreed accounts and targets.

What you will be involved in:

  • Support the UK Online Sales Director and wider UK Sales team in delivering day-to-day sales priorities
  • Support the day-to-day maintenance of UK trade online accounts
  • Coordinate sales activity for designated accounts, supported by the line manager
  • Contribute to sales targets and, at Executive level, take ownership of agreed account targets
  • Maintain accurate customer databases and sales applications
  • Respond promptly and accurately to queries from customers, sales colleagues and agents
  • Process customer, author and gratis orders
  • Manage Amazon queries and monitor the compliance dashboard
  • Maintain the Pre-Order and Key Title Tracker
  • Coordinate the bi-weekly Amazon Vendor Services meeting schedule
  • Create and distribute sales presentations, materials and publications
  • Manage print and eBook promotion submissions and calendars, and identify marketing and partnership opportunities for key accounts
  • Help organise and attend sales events and key trade shows, and coordinate follow-up activity
  • Provide administrative support for key accounts and complete other delegated sales tasks

About you

You’ll be motivated, proactive and highly organised, with an interest in developing your career in online and digital publishing sales. Direct experience in this area is not essential: curiosity about how customers discover and buy books through online and digital channels, together with a willingness to learn, is just as important. You’ll enjoy supporting colleagues, customers and partners, and will be ready to take on greater account responsibility if appointed at Sales Executive level.

In this role, success will mean:

  • Timely provision of accurate information to the sales team, agents and customers
  • Achievement of agreed sales targets, where applicable to the level of appointment
  • Accurate and up-to-date customer records and sales-system data
  • Effective organisation of, and follow-up from, sales events and trade shows
  • Positive contribution to the wider sales effort and account development

You will bring:

  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong IT skills, including standard office software, spreadsheets, databases and sales applications
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to sales targets
  • Strong time-management, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, with accurate writing and proofreading skills
  • Proactive, adaptable and collaborative, with the ability to respond promptly to customers and colleagues
  • A strong team player who can also work independently and take ownership of agreed responsibilities
  • Previous administrative or sales-support experience; direct account-management experience will support appointment at Executive level

If you’re excited by the opportunity to develop your career in publishing sales, with a focus on online retail and digital channels, we’d love to hear from you.
