Meet Kate Davies, author of Fairy Tale Land, The Incredible Hotel, and Illumananity.

What does LGBTQ+ Pride mean to you?
Being queer is one of my favorite things about myself: it honestly brings me so much joy. So Pride to me is about celebrating that, celebrating being able to be unapologetic about who I am and who I love, and standing up for people around the world who aren't as lucky as me.
How do you celebrate Pride throughout the year?
My wife and I have an eighteen-month-old son, so celebrating Pride feels more important than ever. We read him picture books which show families like ours and meet up with other queer families, and I can't wait to take him to Provincetown Family Week this summer for his first Pride.
What’s your favorite queer space?
Gay's the Word, an amazing LGBTQ+ bookshop in London. It's the oldest queer bookshop in the UK, and it's been a real centre for the community since 1979. It's so welcoming – visiting feels like seeing family.
