OFFICIAL RULES OF ENTRY: Wide Eyed Editions Illustration Competition
The Quarto Group, Inc. (“Quarto”), for and on behalf of its Wide Eyed Editions imprint, is accepting nominations for a prize for an emerging and aspiring illustrator. Submissions will be accepted beginning at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on October 21, 2024 and ending at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 1st, 2024. Submissions must be submitted via Quarto.com and must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 1st, 2024. Submission of an entry does not constitute entry into any other promotion, contest, or sweepstakes of Quarto or any of its divisions, affiliates or related entities.
ELIGIBILITY: Any person 18 years of age or older may enter, provided that the illustrator (the “Entrant”) must:
• has never had artwork commercially published and credited in a trade book or book product
• is not currently represented by an agent
Employees and immediate family members (parent, sibling, spouse or child) of employees of Quarto or any of its affiliates or related entities are not eligible to submit a nomination or to be nominated.
HOW TO SUBMIT: Complete the official Submission Form on Quarto.com. Quarto is not responsible for incomplete Submission Forms, for incorrect information submitted on a Submission Form, or for Submission Forms that are undeliverable, misdirected, lost, or illegible or otherwise incapable of being viewed by the Selection Committee.
No purchase is required, and the purchase of any Quarto products will not affect the review, evaluation or selection of any Entrant.
ACCEPTANCE OF RULES: By submitting, you agree to these Official Rules, and you acknowledge that the Entrant will meet the eligibility requirements. You agree that all decisions by Quarto Inc. in interpreting, administering and applying the Official Rules and in selecting the winning Entrant will be final and binding.
SELECTION OF WINNER: The winning Entrant will be selected by a committee appointed by Quarto (the “Selection Committee”). Selection of the winning Entrant will be based on the Entrant’s original and unpublished artwork based on the theme of "celebration and works available for review in submittied portfolio. The Selection Committee will select the winner by January 15th, 2025.
PRIZE:
One (1) First Prize consists of a cash payment of UK£500 along with a portfolio review with the Wide Eyed Editions Art Director
Three (3) Runner Up Prizes consist of a portfolio review with a Quarto Art Director
There are no substitutions and the Prize is not transferable. Any sales, use or other tax due as a result of receiving the Prize will be the responsibility of the Entrant. The cash payment will be delivered to the recipient by Quarto within ninety (90) days after the selection of the winning entry by the Selection Committee, provided the winning Entrant meets all of the eligibility requirements, acknowledges receipt of notification of winning and executes a Release, as outlined below.
NOTIFICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND RELEASE: The winning Entrant and the person submitting the winning Entrant will be notified by email or telephone, using the contact information provided with the Application Form. Quarto will not be responsible for any incorrect physical or email addresses or phone numbers submitted with an entry or for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted, not delivered or not received for any reason. If the winning Entrant does not acknowledge receipt of notification of winning and (except for a Entrant residing in Tennessee) execute a Release providing for the use of the winning Entrant’s name and other personally identifying information included on the Submission Form for and in connection with public announcements and advertisements relating to the awarding of the Prize within fifteen (15) days after notification has been sent, or if the Entrant is determined by Quarto to be ineligible, is disqualified or declines the Prize, the Selection Committee will review the remaining entries and select a substitute winner, and the substitute winner will be notified as provided herein.
USE OF INFORMATION: Information received on official Sunmission Forms will not be used for any purpose other than selection of the winning Entrant, and will not be shared with or sold to any third party. Except for the use of the winning Entrant’s name and other personally identifying information contained on the Sunmission Form in connection with public announcements and advertisements relating to the awarding of the Prize (if a Release is signed), and otherwise required by law, all information received for all Entrants and submitters will be destroyed after awarding of the Prize to and acceptance of the Prize by the winning Entrant.
REQUESTS TO VIEW, CORRECT OR DELETE INFORMATION: At any time prior to the time we destroy the information received and collected about you, you may:
• Request that we disclose to you all information received and collected about you in connection with a submission for the award, including the source of that information.
• Request that we correct any or all of that information in our records.
• Request that we delete any or all of that information from our records.
Requests may be submitted to us at: marketingusa@quarto.com. Any request must include your name, contact information, and a copy of government issued photo ID (Driver’s license, State ID, Passport). We will attempt to verify that you are who you say you are before honoring any request to review, correct or delete any information collected about you.
SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION: Quarto is not responsible for any condition or unexpected event which may affect the submission, receipt, review or evaluation of nominations or the fairness or integrity of the selection process, including, without limitation, computer hacking, loss of communication connections, civil unrest, war, pandemic, or government order. Quarto reserves the right, at its sole discretion and without notice, to revise, suspend or cancel the selection of a winner and the awarding of the Prize in the event of any such condition or event.
GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION/VENUE: All issues and questions related to the construction, validity, interpretation and enforcement of the Official Rules or the rights and obligations of entrants, Entrants and Quarto in connection with the receipt and review of Submission Forms and the selection of a winner will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Massachusetts, without giving effect to its choice of law or conflict of law rules, or any provision that would cause the application of the laws of any other state. A determination that any provision of the Official Rules is invalid or unenforceable shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision, and the Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
