Description Description

Everyone knows Italians cook from memory! That's why this book is so special. The beloved Italian trio of Sooshi Mango sat down with their mammas and coaxed from them the secrets to all the best dishes from our childhoods (and theirs).

These pages will transport you to their mamma's house with more than 40 recipes that cover all the makings of a delicious family feast – from antipasti to first, second and side courses to desserts. After many 'Ma stop guessing!' moments, they wrote it all down, bringing you the greats. From Carmela's cotoletta to Giuseppina's chicken brodo, Angela's pasta al forno and Carlo's beloved Sicilian doughnuts – it's all here for you to recreate at home. The mammas have even shared their smash-hit menus, the best shots from all the family albums, and advice on food and life – mamma knows best, after all.

To Sooshi Mango, food isn't just food. It's how they show love, how they keep the peace, and why their homes will forever be a magnet for all the relatives and uninvited guests. Welcome to the famiglia!

Sooshi Mango

Sooshi Mango is an Australian-Sicilian comedy sensation. Melbourne-based, they are brothers Joe and Carlo Salanitri and their high-school best friend, Andrew Manfre. The trio started out making car videos a decade ago and quickly struck a chord. Their audience has grown exponentially through skits, videos and acts that pay homage to their experiences growing up in Australia in an Italian family surrounded by other European migrant cultures. The name Sooshi Mango dates to 2015 – when Joe's young son was shouting the words, which mean nothing and everything; it appealed to them because it doesn't say ethnic. Food is at the heart of a lot of what they do and their mamma characters – Giuseppina, Carmela and Angela – are especially beloved. The boys have a restaurant in Melbourne's Lygon Street, Carlton (Johnny, Vince and Sam's Ristorante, named after their ethnic dads characters), a wine label of the same name, and a podcast called Saucy Meatballs, now named Sooshi Mango podcast.
